- Currently Mascoat Products has manufactured Delta T Marine for over nine years.
- Delta T Marine is on over 300 vessels from Alaska to Antarctica with no warranty claims.
- Delta T Marine was developed exclusively for marine conditions.
- Airborne Structural Sound reductions by 50% depending on thickness.
- Delta T is extremely lightweight. It weighs approximately 4.8 lbs/gallon covering 50 sq. ft. per gallon at a 20-mil layer. Dry Film Thickness (DFT) is 0.05-0.07 lbs./sq.ft or 0.07 lbs. Dry film thickness weight.
- The coating is one-part, and is water-based. It requires no specialized area for storage and can be resealed/reused later.
- The coating is environmentally friendly containing no harmful VOC’s.
- Delta T is non-combustible.
- The coating is USCG, ABS, Lloyd’s, DNV approved, and Underwriters Laboratories listed.
- The coating attaches itself directly to substrate wall leaving no room for Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI).
- The coating will not degrade or suffer any effects of sweat, vibration, compression or degradation like conventional thermal insulation.
- Application time is very rapid. Spray area equates to around 1000 ft² in one hour (100 m²). Typically a 200’ vessel can be insulated in less than three days (4-5 men working 8 hour shifts with one spray apparatus). This is dramatically less than conventional insulation method, which may require as much as three weeks. Delta T can also be easily sprayed in hard to insulate areas such as stiffeners and small voids.
- Delta T is applied with an airless spray system found at most shipyards.
- Most vessels see a 30% - 50% reduction on total applied costs. Delta T is more expensive from a material standpoint, but the application time reduces total installed costs. The percentage difference depends on if the shipyard installs the coating or an insulation contractor. Most importantly, the Delta T systems escalate the time frame of the vessel.
- The coating may be applied by a trained paint crew and installed at night. This frees up the vessel for other work during the daytime hours.
- Delta T requires no maintenance. It is basically, a shoot-and-forget product. If fabrication is needed around an already coated area, the coating can be removed with a wire brush or grinder, and then touched up with a brush.
- Most vessels spray two, 20-mil layers to achieve an RvE 9-13 (depending on application) for thermal insulation.
- Delta T actually lowers the outside skin temperature of the vessel (see explanation). This is important for personnel protection and will also extend the life of the vessels topcoat.
